There are two main types of tinnitus subjective tinnitus and Objective tinnitus. So firstly Subjective tinnitus is what you can hear in the inner, outer and middle ears.

Objective tinnitus is tinnitus that your doctor can hear. Its rare but unlike subjective that caused by disorder's of nerves, objective is caused by blood, muscle or inner bone disorders.

You have an upper respiratory infection, such as a cold, and your tinnitus doesn't improve within a week.

See your doctor as soon as possible if you have tinnitus that occurs suddenly or without an apparent cause, you have hearing loss, or you feel dizzy along with tinnitus.
